DJ Spotlight: ten39PM!

written by Amir Lahoud on

What is your show called and how long have you been running it? What kind of music do you play?

My show is called ten39pm, and I've only been doing it for a year now. I transferred here last spring from George Mason University and then I got my show the summer after. As for music, I play a whole lot of everything. I typically play techno, queer, electronic, and pop music, but my show isn't limited to that vibe. I've done a classical show, I play metal music, I like to keep it varied during my shows.

What is your favorite part about radio and how did you first get involved?

My favorite part of radio has to be how many people are a part of it. It's such a big mix of people that I can force to listen to the music I like! I first got involved through a mutual friend's invite to come to the orgy with him, and I remember wanting to throw up from anxiety during it. It was the first thing I did here besides go to class. It was really cool to see all the staffheads and their fun slides.

What is your fondest memory with WUVT?

Out of all of the house shows, events, staff meetings, and radiothon it's so hard to pick out a favorite moment! I haven't had a bad experience at any WUVT event honestly. If I had to pick a favorite it would have to be the Big Event! It was really fun to give back to the Virginia Tech community with all of the people who I've grown with at WUVT.

What is your favorite FM show that you've hosted so far?

My radiothon show comes to mind, but it was purposefully bad so I'm not sure If I'd say that was my favorite. My favorite has to be my first show. I play a lot of digital music, and I spent days searching for songs that fit my vibe, downloading and cutting files, and making a playlist all in preparation for my first show. It's a lot of effort but I think that the work I put in separates me from everyone else!
