Who is Karen Baker?

Karen Baker started out her career working as a trial lawyer for 13 years, and an Administrative Law Judge for another 17. In 2011, Baker became a registered nurse, and started working in a rural hospital. Baker is running for Virginia’s 9th congressional district, which encompasses much of southwest Virginia, including Blacksburg. The current representative of the 9th district is Morgan Griffith, who has held the seat comfortably for the last 13 years. Baker faces an uphill battle, as Representative Griffith’s last congressional challenge saw him winning against democratic candidate Taysha DeVaughn with a margin of 43 percent. In our interview, we discussed her campaign, her policies, and her goals.
